Oh...wow...
Melissa was pretty sure her brain short circuited when Al leaned in and kissed her again but actually really kissed her like he meant it. No teasing kiss, no tentative gentleness but a kiss that sent heat rushing through her system as her body reacted the only way it really could when being kissed like that.
Then, when they parted, she opened her eyes to look at him with a much darker, hungrier gaze.
"Of course, if I'm already here when you're sleeping? I won't need a key." She murmured huskily.

(Set one week after Derek and Stiles's bbq.)
At the pack barbecue, Al and Melissa settled on the following weekend to grab that dinner. He wasn't working, she had an afternoon shift at the hospital, it all seemed to work out. Melissa had picked out a place she knew and liked (and assured him they did brownie a la mode), he was going to pick her up at seven...
They had both, very carefully, and by some strange, silent agreement, avoided the use of the word 'date.'
Al really couldn't kid himself, however, as he got ready to head out. Not much, anyway...he knew Melissa well, they'd been friends for years. The four of them, the McCalls and the Stilinskis, and later Melissa and the Stilinskis. They had been closer than just friends, or even family...after Melissa kicked Rafe out, the three of them had pretty much worked to raise their kids together. Scott and Stiles were brothers to each other, and Melissa had been in so deep with Claudia it sometimes felt like they were extensions of each other.
It was the only other thing, besides Stiles, that had pulled him through after Claudia had died.
Which was how he ended up getting out of the shower, nearly ready to shave, and found himself standing there at the bathroom sink, staring at the gold band sitting on the edge beside his watch and his cell phone (a habit he'd picked up after Stiles had opened his eyes to everything, not even leaving it long enough to shower in case his son needed him), thinking about Melissa and Claudia and the eight years he'd been wearing it.
( No there never used to be this girl... )

There's a meme in Darrow, so let's do this. It's helpful. :P
ME:
...not good. Dad's medical situation is fucked up, and I'm now dealing with shit from Social Services. If I'm a very lucky girl? The SS issues will die fast, and Dad will have an extended hospital stay in which to get healthy and end the fuckery that's been going on. Work is a nightmare, and I was moved out of my office to the front foyer, so tagging is getting a little harder and my boss is scrutinizing me more closely. The stress is fit to kill me.
However, that said...the badness in my life is making me DESPERATE for an escape, so GIVE ME ALL YOUR THREADS. No, seriously. Want to talk to the Sheriff? Say 'boo' and I'll do a post/tag a post before you can say "Sheriff Stilinski is a DILF when he's packing heat."
...anyway. On to the muses. >.> XD
Sheriff {Al} Stilinski: Al's currently working for the Darrow PD. He's back to being Papa Stilinski, and couldn't be happier...so long as Stiles is ACTUALLY IN SCHOOL. Oh, and he just found out that his son is dating Derek Hale, which is...awkward, but he's adjusting. Really, all he cares about is Stiles's happiness. And he thinks pretty well of Derek, too, so he's compartmentalizing his internal flail at Stiles being romantically involved with a male werewolf with issues and focusing on what's important: a family dinner. Goddamnit, if anybody's taking this whole "pack" thing seriously, then they will all be comfortable with each other so help him God.
And Stiles will stop ditching. YES, STILES, THIS IS NOW A THING.
Al won't lie, either: it's GOOD to have Melissa around. Someone to commiserate with, someone to help him through the stuff he can't quite get his head around, and he's starting to realize through all the craziness of kids and werewolves and kanimas and possible illness that he's missed her. So the bonding is hardcore, and he's kinda feeling mushy about Mama McCall. >.>
FUTURE
Allison Argent: Future as in, I've apped her and I'm waiting to hear back. Yes, folks, ALLISON ARGENT IS IN DARROW AND SHE'S GOING TO BE HAPPY AND NEVER EVER LEAVING IDGAF. That's all I'll say because spoilers.
Jeremy Danvers: I'm FINALLY starting to read the OTHERWORLD books. A little. And then I'll app him and nothing will hurt. Or I'll app the TV show version and let the streams cross with Clay and Elena and stuff. I JUST KIND OF LOVE BOTH VERSION OF HIM OKAY, AND ONE WAY OR ANOTHER HE WILL BE MAI MUSE GDI. Unlikely app for March, but may app in April.
Robert Angier: Because I'm a massive magic geek, and he still loves Helena Bertinelli. Yes, it makes sense if you know his history. I've heard a little about this "transfer" thing, but it's been FOREVER since I played in a group game. Still need to get my bearings, still need to read some rules. But, ultimately, Robert would be transferred from another game where he developed a surprisingly enriching and even healthy relationship with Helena Bertinelli, who went so far as to help him reclaim the ability to walk normally again. It's Hugh Jackman, okay, I DON'T NEED A REASON. >.> COULD be an April app, but with all I have on my plate? I might push it back as far as May or June. But he IS coming.
Tony Stark: Just thinking about it right now. But yes, Virginia, Liz needs a Stark in Winterfell--I mean, Darrow. >.> Definitely May/June, if I app him at all. Not even gonna consider a reserve until I'm sure.
Now...go forth and pelt me with threads. Did I mention I need intense distraction? And let's face it, icons of Linden Ashby with a gun will only work for so long...

"The music always takes me back...to when you broke my heart..."
It was a little cloudy, but otherwise a nice day as Al walked down the street, listening to a couple of songs he had downloaded on his phone. The indie group shredding in his ears was a find from his last trip to LA, a guilty pleasure he indulged in from time to time when he needed a little motivation.
And since he'd been in town for a few days now, and hadn't yet looked into employment, he needed a little kick in the ass to get him going.
It was strangely easy to let it slide, to just spend some quality time with his son, get to know Derek a little bit better, to learn the lay of the land and get his bearings. He hated to admit it, but Stiles had been right about that much: Darrow was a relatively uneventful little burgh, and Al hadn't realized how much he needed a little peace and quiet until the morning he woke up at 9AM, shocked by how much better he felt after a long, deep, dreamless sleep.
So he was planning on visiting the police station to see if they were hiring, and he was planning to do it before his first cup of coffee wore off...and before Stiles caught on to the fact his first cup had actually been his third (because he needed to relax more, don't you get stressed out enough on the job, take a break and stop pushing yourself so hard).
As he enjoyed a leisurely stroll through Darrow, however, not only was another cup of coffee calling his name, but so was the pastry he spotted in the coffee shop the second he got in line, nodding along with the music in his ears as he slowly made his way towards the front of the line.
(Note: chronology of threads is Stiles first, then Melissa later. Tag on! :P)
